Lizzie Romain is originally from the Westcountry! She was a tap, modern and jazz dancer with East Devon Dance for fifteen years, and had several principle roles in productions with the Exeter Little Theatre Company. She then moved to Cardiff to study Midwifery, and was a cheerleader for the university team- the Cardiff Snakecharmers.
Lizzie moved to London in 2016, and has worked in the NHS and Private sectors of Healthcare. To satisfy her creative side, she continued ad hoc dancing through The Pineapple Dance Studios in Covent Garden, and began working part time as a TV and Film supporting artist. Lizzie can be seen in the background of Eastenders, Holby City, Afterlife, Cheat, Flesh and Blood, Britain’s Got Talent promo, the ‘Pokemon’ Film and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ – to name just a few productions! Interesting accolades include being a hand double for Morfydd Clark, and working as a midwife advisor on set.
After her midwife career progressed to involve teaching parent education classes to prospective parents, Lizzie was inspired to develop her presenting skills and founded her own YouTube channel. “Lizzie the Midwife” looked to enhance the care of women, partners and babies by posting free conversational VLogs on YouTube and Instagram. This account has evolved to become realtalk.3.0.
In December 2019, Lizzie was welcomed in to the team at Hayes FM 91.8 as a Radio Presenter. Her unique show, ‘+ve New Music Releases,'
is broadcast on Thursdays 1-3pm. It is multi-genre, usually containing six different genre categories, out of the following:
- Acoustic/Folk
- Chill/Low-Fi
- Indie
- Indie/Rock
- Rock
- Alt-Pop
- Pop (including bedroom pop and commercial)
- EDM/D&B
Every show has a fun, tongue-in-cheek, sometimes metaphorical theme, which ranges from 'Superheroes' to 'The Planet in 2030,' 'Back To School' to 'Cereal Appreciation Week.' Lizzie loves to involve her new, emerging artists in the shows and offers them the chance to record their own audio introductions to their new releases. This means her listeners get a personal flavour from each artist- and regular features of the same artists allows listeners to become excitingly involved in their journey from the unknown to the charts!
On Monday mornings, you'll find Lizzie reading the news for Radio Cardiff 98.7 FM. She also produces voiceovers from her home studio.
On Tuesdays, you'll quite often find Lizzie in North London, conducting artist interviews as co-host for Matt Wherry's Unsigned UK Podcast. (See 'Interviews with Unsigned' tab).
On Wednesdays at 7pm. +ve New Music Releases is additionally broadcast on Future Hits, a radio station which specifically supports unsigned and emerging artists.
Lizzie has experience as a TV presenter for a music channel and FrogHopping property competitions. She has presented for ArtFix YMX radio, and hosted live music events and live interviews around London at The Rocket Gastropub in Acton, The Escape Bar in Shepherds Bush, and at The Society of the Golden Slippers in Soho.
Lizzie is working as presenter on a music documentary with SNOWW Productions, called 'Up+Coming.'
Currently, she holds a full-time position as a video journalist for an international news organisation in London. She cut her teeth in the industry as a live output producer for a regional news channel. Factoring in her background in women's health, she has also appeared as a guest contributor on GB News to discuss miscarriage.
Lizzie is a keen eco-advocate, and is an Ambassador for 'The Tree App.'
